Following up on his illustrious statement yesterday, Tom DeLay elaborates:
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, blasting congressional and media critics of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, said yesterday that the constant drumbeat of attacks on the Pentagon chief was undermining the war effort."What worries me is that we are aiding and abetting the enemy," DeLay told Lt. Col. Oliver North, who was filling in on Sean Hannity's ABC Radio network broadcast.
Without naming names, DeLay pointed the finger at "all these naysayers" who he said "constantly criticize and call everything a mistake."
The repeated attacks on Rumsfeld are only emboldening terrorists and their allies, the Texas conservative said.
[...]
DeLay complained that "most of those who are criticizing [Rumsfeld], starting with the national media, never wanted us in the war to begin with. And then you have a lot of these Democrats who voted against the war. They're the appeasers. They want to go back to the days of Clinton when we appeased these terrorists."

Update: CNSNews finds this part of DeLay's statement noteworthy...
At the same time, he's also a visionary, brilliantly and effectively working to create a military for the 22nd century.
Not to be a naysayer, but it's a wee bit early for that, no? No wonder he doesn't seem to be worried about planning or equipment in Iraq, or for that matter, terrorism. Those things are mired in the present, part of a pre-22nd century mindset.

Political cartoon I saw today (wish I'd paid attention to whose) had Rummy in the first frame saying,"you go to war with the army you have, not the one you wish you had." Next frame has Bush saying," You go to war with the Sec. of Defense you have..." Next frame has two "American people" watching TV with it saying, "you stay the course with the president you have..." Next frame shows the planet, "You function with the superpower that you have..." That last one I paraphrased a bit, but you get the idea. Actually, since China has the biggest army, holds the most of our debt and is nuclear, I'm calling them the sleeper superpower of the century." We will trade places with them on the banana republic scale if we stick to the Bush/DeLay plan. "Not prudent, don't do it." GHW Bush.
